Arrifana
Arrifana is one of the most beautiful places on Portugal’s west coast. Dramatic cliffs, the vast Atlantic, and a long sandy beach create a landscape that feels both powerful and peaceful at the same time.
It’s not a typical Algarve destination — there are no big resorts or crowds. Instead, you get raw nature, ocean views, and a slower rhythm of life. Arrifana is part of the protected Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina, which helps preserve this wild, untouched coastline.
The road down to the beach, the viewpoint above the cliffs, and the changing light throughout the day make it a place you want to stop and just take in.
Nearby, you’ll find equally stunning spots like Praia do Amoreiro, where a river meets the ocean, creating a wide, open landscape that feels almost untouched.
This area is also known for its local products — small producers sell honey, fig jam, and the region’s famous sweet potatoes, Batata-doce de Aljezur, which are considered some of the best in Portugal.
Surfers especially love Arrifana, but even if you’re not one of them, it’s hard not to be impressed. It’s the kind of place that stays with you — simple, quiet, and incredibly beautiful.
